Roll up for Dickens World

I so want this to be a success. I so want this not to be just another corny, cliched, lowest common denominator scheme designed to part punters from their cash.
My fear is that this will have all the subtlety of a Blackpool bingo hall.
Maybe one question here is: Can culture be got for free? As far as Dickens is concerned, in my case, I'd almost say, Yes, it can. Although I love reading, one of my favourite media for knowing Charles Dickens's books is the radio (or audio book). It's like being read to which is a great pleasure for everyone, not just young children.
And the radio production, and of course the film or TV series, is a way of getting culture without any effort.
Taking it all a few stages further and reproducing Dickens's world(s) in beautiful sets of plastic and fibre glass might work, but I must say, I have doubts. Where Dickens' world belongs is inside your head, resonating, living in all its mighty odd, unexpected reality.
But I'd give it a go.

I agree, Alan; such a scheme has the potential to become a fantastic resource and centre for Dickens fans, English or History students and so on, but there's always the worry that it won't *quite* live up to what it might have been.
